Pathways to Growth

At Avalon LA, we’re opening doors for the next generation. In partnership with Pathways Press, our Youth Educational Program brings together hands-on training, life skills, and creative opportunities. This is a space where young people can learn, grow, and prepare for a brighter future — right here in the heart of our community.

Learning Through Experience

We know true learning happens when hands are busy and minds are engaged. That’s why our program, in collaboration with Pathways Press, offers young people opportunities to try everything — from car washing and janitorial work to cooking, nail design, crafting, and more. These aren’t just “tasks” — they’re chances to explore what resonates, to wrestle with new challenges, and to surprise themselves with strengths they never knew they had. Through each activity, participants gain both the technical know-how and the pride of saying, “I made this” or “I mastered that.”

Building Life & Work Skills

Education here goes beyond the classroom. We focus on everyday essentials that prepare youth for independence and career readiness That’s why we pair the hands-on work with training in key life skills: resume writing, interview prep, personal presentation, teamwork, time management, and physical wellness. Whether learning how to prepare a meal without burning it, designing nails with care, or keeping a workspace clean and welcoming, youth also practice responsibility, attention to detail, and communication. These building blocks give them tools not just for a first job, but for life: staying healthy, being reliable, stepping into leadership, feeling capable and confident.

Creating Pathways to the future

This program isn’t a temporary stop — it’s a launchpad. We’re planting seeds of possibility. Avalon LA and Pathways Press aim to open doors: to apprenticeships, continuing education, careers that align with talents, creativity, and dreams. With mentorship, confidence-building, and community support, youth aren’t just learning tasks—they’re discovering their value and where they fit in the bigger picture. We want every young person here to leave knowing: I can contribute, I have something unique, and I can create a future I’m proud of. Each skill learned becomes a stepping stone toward self-sufficiency, growth, and long-term success.
